Re: Sponsorship for 23rd Conference on Medical Imaging, Understanding and Analysis

I am writing to you on behalf of the Local Organising Committee of the 23rd Conference in Medical Imaging, Understanding and Analysis (MIUA2019), which we are holding at the University of Liverpool on 24-26 July 2019.

This annual meeting is the principal forum for medical image analysts and researchers to network, present their work, and discuss image processing and analysis research, covering the breadth of medical imaging and biomedicine. As well as being a popular conference for senior researchers, we are particularly proud to have a large proportion of postgraduate students for whom this meeting is an excellent opportunity to network with their peers as they begin their careers.

We will publish a Springer book of proceedings and a special issue in the Journal of Imaging for extended papers. We also plan to broaden the scope of MIUA by combining with a 2-day workshop on Image Processing Techniques and Applications (IPTA). Leading into MIUA, this workshop will result in a special issue in the Journal of Algorithms and Computational Technology and facilitate engagement with non-medical imaging scientists.

We have confirmed five keynote speakers, who are all international leaders in their fields:

  • Carola-Bibiane Shönlieb (University of Cambridge)
  • Dinggang Shen (University of North Carolina)
  • Sebastien Ourselin (Kings College London)
  • Alejandro Frangi (University of Leeds)
  • Olaf Ronneberger (Universität Freiburg).

With these arrangements and the popular venue of Liverpool, we expect more than 100 participants from the UK and overseas.

We are holding the Liverpool meeting at the Central Teaching Hub at the heart of the main university campus, which can accommodate over 350 delegates and combines meeting, teaching and laboratory space to provide an excellent setting for the conference activities in a central location. Meeting the BREEAM “excellent” criteria for sustainability, at CTH we have a large conference space with plenty of room across two floors to combine poster and exhibition space with lunch facilities and networking/ meeting areas.

We will welcome our delegates to Liverpool with a drinks reception at the Victoria Gallery and Museum, with opportunities for networking, discussion, catching up and seeing the exhibits. For the second evening, we are planning a conference dinner at the Merseyside Maritime Museum. Starting with a drinks reception at the Art and Sea Gallery, we will move up to the Maritime Dining Room with views across the Albert Dock and Liverpool Waterfront.

To make this conference possible and provide student stipends, we rely on the generosity of our sponsors. As with previous years, we are offering a range of sponsorship levels (see below):

  • Bronze (£500) includes your logo appearing in the programme, continuity slides, proceedings and on the website.
  • Silver (£1000) includes the bronze package with one complimentary registration, logo on the conference bag, as well as poster and exhibition space.
  • Gold (£2000) includes the silver package with an extra complimentary registration, the opportunity to make a 5-minute podium talk, sponsor an award, and have a banner at the conference dinner.

I would be more than happy to discuss any suggestions or requests you may have, i.e., drinks reception, networking lunch or running a satellite event. Thank you very much for considering this request and I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Dr Bryan M. Williams               Dr Yalin Zheng               Professor Ke Chen
